Most walkable cities in Europe?

I'm planning a two-week trip to Europe next spring and I really want to avoid renting a car or relying constantly on the metro. Which European cities have you found to be the absolute most pedestrian-friendly for exploring entirely on foot? I love charming old towns, good public spaces, and generally avoiding heavy traffic.

Florence, Italy is hands down the best city for this. The entire historic center is a Zona a Traffico Limitato (ZTL), meaning almost no cars. You can walk everywhere from the Duomo to the Pitti Palace in under 30 minutes.

Edinburgh, Scotland is wonderfully walkable if you don't mind a few hills. The Old Town and New Town are completely pedestrian-friendly, and walking down the Royal Mile is an absolute joy in the spring.

Amsterdam is the ultimate walking and biking city. While you do have to watch out for bikes more than cars, the canal ring is practically built for pedestrians. It's flat, beautiful, and you won't need a metro card at all.

Dubrovnik, Croatia is another great option. Once you step inside the Old Town walls, cars are entirely banned. It's entirely pedestrian streets and staircases with stunning Adriatic views around every corner.

Vienna is fantastic. The Innere Stadt has huge pedestrian zones, gorgeous architecture, and lovely public parks like the Volksgarten. You can easily spend days just wandering aimlessly without ever touching public transit.

Prague is magical on foot. Crossing the Charles Bridge and getting lost in the cobblestone streets of Mala Strana and the Old Town feels like stepping back in time. Heavy traffic is strictly kept out of the core tourist zones.

Tallinn, Estonia has one of the best-preserved medieval old towns in Europe. It's completely walkable, incredibly charming, and much less crowded than places like Paris or Rome during the spring shoulder season.

Strasbourg, France—specifically the Grande Île—is a UNESCO World Heritage site that is almost entirely pedestrianized. Walking along the canals in the Petite France district during spring is an experience you'll never forget.
