My partner and I are finally planning our summer getaway and we want to spend most of our time relaxing by the ocean. We are looking for stunning white sand, crystal-clear turquoise water, and a good balance of vibrant local culture without being overwhelmingly crowded. Which European destinations would you recommend for the ultimate beach vacation in July?

You guys should definitely check out Sardinia, specifically the Golfo di Orosei. The water is unbelievably clear and the sand is pure white. It can get busy in peak summer, but if you rent a little dinghy, you can find secluded coves all to yourselves!

For a romantic vibe with stunning beaches, have a look at Milos in Greece. It's less crowded than Santorini or Mykonos in July, and places like Sarakiniko beach feel like you've landed on the moon. Naxos is my absolute favorite Greek island for this exact reason. It has Plaka and Agios Prokopios beaches which are miles of soft white sand and shallow turquoise water, plus an amazing inland mountain culture and great food.

Menorca is much quieter and more pristine than Mallorca or Ibiza. Cala Macarella and Cala Turqueta have that exact Caribbean-in-Europe look with pine trees coming right down to the turquoise water.

If you want to combine beach relaxation with culture, Puglia in Southern Italy is incredible. Check out the beaches around Monopoli and Polignano a Mare. Just keep in mind that July is high season everywhere in Europe, so book your accommodation early!

Have you considered the Algarve in Portugal? Praia da Marinha and Praia da Falésia are breathtaking, surrounded by dramatic golden cliffs and crystal-clear Atlantic water. Plus, the seafood is out of this world.

Corsica is often called the Island of Beauty for a reason. Palombaggia and Santa Giulia beaches in the south have white sand, clear shallow water, and pink granite rocks. It has a unique mix of French and Italian culture too.
Formentera near Ibiza is a hidden gem if you stay over rather than just doing a day trip. Illetes beach looks like the Maldives with crystal-clear turquoise water and a very relaxed bohemian atmosphere in July.

Zanzibar is nice, but since you asked for Europe, Lefkada in the Ionian islands of Greece has Porto Katsiki and Egremni beaches which feature the most vibrant turquoise water you will ever see framed by massive white cliffs.

Check out the Costa Brava in Spain, specifically around Begur. Towns like Aiguablava have small, picturesque sandy coves sheltered by pine trees with incredibly clear water and fantastic local Catalan restaurants.

Bustling local culture combined with stunning beaches points straight to Sicily. The Vendicari Nature Reserve has pristine, uncrowded natural beaches where you can swim in absolute peace before heading into a baroque town for dinner.
