Hey everyone! I'm planning a backpacking trip across Europe this coming summer and I really want to experience at least one or two iconic music or cultural festivals while I'm there. I'm open to anything from massive electronic music events to traditional cultural celebrations, as long as the atmosphere is unforgettable. Which ones are absolute must-visits, and do you have any tips for getting tickets without breaking the bank?

You absolutely have to check out Tomorrowland in Belgium if you are into electronic music! The production is unreal and unlike anything else in the world.

For a traditional cultural celebration, La Tomatina in Spain is wild. Just make sure to wear old clothes you are willing to throw away afterward.

If you want a mix of great music and culture, Sziget Festival in Budapest is amazing. It takes place on an island right in the middle of the Danube.

Glastonbury in the UK is the ultimate bucket list festival, but getting tickets is pure luck. Registration opens way in advance, so keep your eyes peeled.
Primavera Sound in Barcelona is fantastic if you like indie, rock, and pop. Plus, being in Barcelona means you get to hit the beach during the day.

To save money on tickets, definitely look into volunteering. Many major festivals offer free entry and camping in exchange for a few shifts working security or cleanup.

Don't sleep on Exit Festival in Serbia! It is held inside a massive fortress overlooking the city of Novi Sad and tickets are way cheaper than Western Europe.

Roskilde Festival in Denmark is one of the oldest and largest in Northern Europe, and all the profits go to charity. The vibe there is so wholesome.
Another budget-friendly tip is to buy tickets during the early bird phases, months before the lineup is even announced. You usually save a ton that way.

Sonar in Barcelona is great for electronic music lovers who prefer a city festival where you sleep in a hostel rather than camp in the mud.

Ultra Europe in Croatia is another heavy hitter if you want EDM combined with an amazing coastal vacation. Split is stunning in the summer.

Have an incredible time backpacking! Just remember to book your accommodation months in advance if you are staying anywhere near a major festival city.
