Hey everyone! I'm planning a action-packed trip across Europe for next summer and I'm trying to compile a bucket list of the best spots for adventure sports. I'm mainly into whitewater rafting, mountain biking, and maybe some beginner-friendly mountaineering, but I'm open to trying pretty much anything high-adrenaline. Where have you all been that truly lived up to the hype, and which companies or regions would you recommend?

You definitely have to check out Interlaken in Switzerland! It is basically the capital of European adventure sports. For whitewater rafting, the Lütschine river is wild, and there are tons of beginner mountaineering courses. If you are planning how to get there, check out this guide on train travel in Europe to save some cash.

Chamonix in France is an absolute must for your list. The mountain biking in the-trail networks around Mont Blanc is world-class, and it is one of the best places in the Alps to dip your toes into mountaineering with a certified guide.

Soca Valley in Slovenia completely blew my mind. The water color is unreal, and the whitewater rafting on the Soca River is some of the best in the world. Plus, the surrounding Julian Alps have incredible single-track mountain biking.

If you want something a bit different, head to Tromsø in Norway. While I usually go there for calmer vibes—similar to what people look for when planning a romantic getaway—the summer adventure sports scene with midnight sun kayaking and coastal hiking is next-level.

Check out Innsbruck, Austria. You can literally roll off a train, grab a mountain bike, and hit hardcore downhill trails right from the city center. The Stubai Glacier nearby is also great for safe, guided introductory glacier mountaineering.

Ribadellago and the Picos de Europa in northern Spain are incredible for rugged hiking and lesser-known via ferratas. It's way less crowded than the Swiss Alps and has amazing local food for when you need to refuel after a massive day outdoors.

Tara River Canyon in Montenegro is phenomenal for whitewater rafting. It is the deepest canyon in Europe, and the rapids are intense. Combine that with some mountain biking in Durmitor National Park and you have the ultimate adrenaline trip.

Kalymnos in Greece is legendary for climbing, but if you mix it up with deep-water soloing and coastal trail running, it's an adventure lover's dream. Just make sure your travel insurance covers high-risk sports before you go!
