Best budget-friendly ski resorts in Europe for this winter?

Hey everyone, my friends and I are planning a ski trip for this winter, but we are trying to keep costs down since lift passes and accommodation have gotten so expensive everywhere. We usually look at the big resorts in France or Switzerland, but are hoping to find some hidden gems or lesser-known spots that offer great snow and terrain without breaking the bank. Which Eastern European or lesser-traveled Alpine resorts do you think offer the best value for money right now?

Have you looked into Bansko in Bulgaria? It's honestly one of the cheapest spots in Europe for a ski trip, and the food in town is super affordable compared to the Alps.

Jasná in Slovakia is an incredible option. Great terrain, modern lifts, and a fraction of the cost of Austrian resorts. Plus, if you like local cuisine, you should check out this guide on the best European countries for food lovers for some foodie inspiration during your travels.

Check out Kranjska Gora in Slovenia. It's beautiful, very budget-friendly, and close to the Italian and Austrian borders if you want a day trip.

Try Borovets in Bulgaria. Lift passes, gear rental, and pints are so cheap compared to France. It can get busy on weekends, but weekdays are amazing.

If you want something in the Alps that isn't completely overpriced, consider Bardonecchia in Italy. It hosted parts of the 2006 Olympics and keeps a very low profile.

Poiana Brașov in Romania is another hidden gem. Beautiful scenery, great ski school prices, and medieval castles nearby to visit when you're off the slopes.

Passo Tonale in Italy is often overlooked by the big crowds heading to the Dolomites or Val d'Isère, but it offers fantastic snow reliability and decent prices.

Don't sleep on Mavrovo in North Macedonia if you really want to go off the beaten path and save serious cash.

If you ever go back in the summer months, you might want to look at the best hiking trails in the European Alps, but for winter, places like Vaujany in France offer cheaper satellite access to massive domains.

Gaudy French mega-resorts are a rip-off now. Stick to smaller Italian resorts like Via Lattea villages or Slovenian spots for a much better wallet-friendly experience.
